Hey, this is Naman. Nice to see you here.

Let's talk about atomic habits.

Atomic Habits - Small things that can change your life.

When was the last time you had to take a big decision, be it career, college, education, love? You must have been stressed if the choices were close, you mind filled with "what would happen on the other side of your decision?"

Let me tell you, it doesn't really matter. Yes, it leads your life into different directions, but it doesn't determine the outcome as much as you think it does. I like to define success like this-

When you reach that point in life that you are capable of doing what you want to do, you're successful.

Of course this definition isn't exact, but you get the feel right?

Now this version of success, it has a lot more to do with compounding. The same compounding effect that happens with stocks, take 100 Rs with 10% interest. 100→110→121→133.4→ . . . . . 214.3

100 rupees with 10% compounding doubles in 8 compounds.

You've heard of the phrase if you improve by 1% you get 37 times better after a year. I say you can get 100x better if you keep improving**.**

The human brain isn't used to compounding, compounding means that the results to your actions come after a time period. Humans for a long time have lived in a hunter-gatherer society.

There, if you saw a rabbit, you killed it, you ate it and you got the result - energy.

In the modern world its a bit different, you depend on your parents while you study for 12 years, then go to college, then get a job to earn money, then finally you have your own food and you are self sustaining your energy requirements.

We're not used to this at all, and hence it is difficult to acknowledge. If you workout for half an hour, you won't be Usain Bolt. That's why its difficult to keep yourself working even when you see no result.

<aside> 👉🏽 Think of yourself as a balloon. At first when you start filling the balloon, it barely stretches. Slowly it starts filling, it gets harder and harder to push the next bit of air inside it. if you keep going, at one point it's gonna burst.

That burst is your result, but all the work you did from the start was your effort.

Maybe also think of yourself as a stock in the share market. all stocks have ups and downs on a daily basis, but if you have good 'fundamentals' you're bound to give great returns. The fundamentals are your personality and the effort you put in yourself everyday.

I seriously hope I don't end up rewriting the book by the end of this.

Recap - Compounding works, we're not used to it. But it works, you compound good stuff it will add up, you compound negativity you're setting yourself up to drown.
